Even if you share Her Majesty the Queen’s distaste for garlic, there is plenty more to savour at Lautrec’s pink garlic festival today and tomorrow (5 & 6 August).
By the time you read this, you will be too late for free garlic soup this Friday lunchtime, but the same dish will be on offer again tomorrow.
If you cannot make either day, you will find the festival’s traditional recipe, other garlic-related recipes (including one from M. Toulouse-Lautrec) and much more about the past and present of this unique pink garlic in my book ‘Menu from the Midi’.
Meanwhile, enjoy a few pictures of this morning’s parade. Guess which worshipful company was bringing up the rear? The Brotherhood of Snail Producers!
